SECRET AVENGERS (2010) (#1-37) (MARVEL) #2 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Secret Avengers (2010) #2
"The Heroic Age" continues. "Secret Histories Part Two" is written by Ed Brubaker and drawn by Mike Deodato and Will Conrad. Over the history of the Avengers and before them, the Sub-Mariner, the Serpent Crown has been a malevolent force, a malignancy in the human experience that dates back to ancient Lemuria before it sank beneath the ocean. Now Roxxon Oil company has unearthed another version of the crown, one that has the Avengers puzzled as to its origins. But they've recovered the artifact from the sinister multinational energy conglomerate and traced its roots back to Mars.

Investigating a Roxxon Oil excavating facility on the surface of the red planet, the Avengers encounter a group of mind-controlled covert intelligence agents with murderous motives. Although once these men and women worked for Nick Fury, now they act to protect the Crown. While the Beast, Ant-Man, Steve Rogers and War Machine handle the agents, the Valkyrie, Moon Knight and the Black Widow recon adjoining Roxxon Oil facilities and discover their teammate Nova, who is also under the control of the alien artifact, supervising a separate excavation site. The star-striding hero is wearing yet another version of the evil Serpent Crown and the situation seems direr by the second!
