SCARY TALES (1975) #8 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Scary Tales (1975) #8
A collection of creepy capers that crawled from crypts crafted by the cleverest of Charlton’s creative cohorts! First off, comic art legend Steve Ditko illustrates and Mike Pellowski authors a weird twist on the Frankenstein legend as a brilliant scientist declares “The Dead Will Live Again!” Dr. Victor Strogoff creates life from death personified in a creature of incredible power but the villagers in the area, led by their one-eyed constable, storm his castle, torches in hand, to incinerate the “abomination” before it can even take its first steps. Strogoff is put on trial for his crimes against God and humanity, convicted and hanged. But the good doctor has made provisions for such an eventuality and once more Death will be cheated of her prize!

Next, Ditko and writer Nick Cuti delve into the power of other dimensions to affect men’s minds as bartender Hal Weston witnesses the horrible effects of “Mr. Ober’s Nightmare.” Does Weston’s frantic patron really see the grisly, green-tinted face of the demon Phylo that haunts his dreams as it comes to life in his waking hours, or is it the delusion of a demented mind? You’ll find out if you read on! After a brief introduction to “Men of Magic” and the text-only story “Fatal Mistake,” writer Cuti and artist Mike Zeck weave a tale of lycanthropy and a child’s trust that comes to “A Grizzly End.”
