ROM (1979) (#1-75) (MARVEL) #14 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Rom (1979) #14
"The Ultimate Android" is written by Bill Mantlo and drawn by Sal Buscema. The Mad Thinker fancies himself the master of all androids. But after creating his first (not-so-modestly dubbed the Awesome Android), the criminal genius has been unable to accomplish his goals, such as defeating the Fantastic Four. He's also been equally unsuccessful in taking over other androids that appear to be superior to his own; including the Vision, Ultron and the Dragon Man. So when the Mad Thinker happens upon news reports from West Virginia of a silvery humanoid wanted in connection with a series of murders, he's intrigued that perhaps, he's found the perfect android to replace his own.

Sending out his Awesome Android to track down Rom, the Mad Thinker is under the mistaken impression that the Spaceknight is not truly a living creature. A titanic struggle ensues in which the villain's creation uses all of its adaptive technology in an attempt to overcome Rom. But even as Rom beats back the automaton's attacks, the Mad Thinker reveals himself and tries to compel the Spaceknight to join his criminal enterprise. Rom refuses and shows the Mad Thinker the error of his thinking. And, to top it off, the Mad Thinker has now given his Awesome Android an inferiority complex! Meanwhile, Rom's secret sweetheart Brandy is marrying her high school boyfriend without knowing he's being impersonated by a Dire Wraith. Also, don't miss "The Saga of the Spaceknights."
