REALM OF KINGS: IMPERIAL GUARD (2009) #3 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Realm of Kings: Imperial Guard (2009) #3
Written by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning with art by Kevin Walker. Guest-starring Quasar. The Imperial Guard of the Shi'ar Empire first appeared in X-Men #107 and was conceived as an homage to DC Comics' Legion of Super-Heroes; a large group of super-powered aliens recruited from a dozen widely different planets, each with their own unique set of powers. So it's appropriate that Abnett and Lanning would have the writing chores on this title after their critically acclaimed run on the LSH title over at the Distinguished Competition.

Members of the Imperial Guard have been forced to work with the Starjammers who are acting on orders from the Majestor Gladiator to explore an inter-dimensional rift in space. But no sooner have they entered the black hole when they are captured by a massive sentient ship which is in its death throes and is being eaten from within by parasitic invaders. A devastating running battle with the parasites leaves several members of the Imperial Guard greatly wounded and only through the combined leadership of Mentor and the Starjammer captain Ch'od are they able to escape. But soon they find themselves in the sights of an even greater menace, one that felled even the mighty Quasar!
