PROMETHEA (1999) #14 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Promethea #14
Alan Moore captures lightning in a bottle by embodying the perfect heroine in words. Alive in the imagination of all who dream of her, Promethea is an ancient idea birthed in the mind of a god. Chockfull of literary references, Moore's depictions of her adventures in the Immateria doubly serve as entertainment and education. And artist J.H. Williams III explodes the common boundaries of comic book art to present wonderfully enchanting illustrations that hypnotize and amaze.

In this issue, Sophie, the current host for Promethea, continues to escort her predecessor, Barbara, through the higher realms of consciousness and sub-consciousness. The Moon is at the center of this tale and all of the mystery and magic that it portends are richly experienced as Sophie and Barbara seek out the elder heroine's dreamlost husband. Along the way she meets historic and literary figures as well as mythological beings who play chess with the fates of mere mortals. Meanwhile, back on Earth, Sophie's friend struggles with the burden of carrying the spirit of Promethea inside her.
