NOT BRAND ECHH! (1967) (#1-13) (MARVEL) #13 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Not Brand Echh! (1967) #13
Welcome to Marvel's wacky answer to Mad Magazine in which they satirize DC Comics, modern society and themselves in the most maniacal manner. We start off with "The Most Unwanted Epic of the Week," namely "The Origin of the Simple Surfer" (written by Roy Thomas, drawn by Marie Severin). Then, enjoy some "Liltin' Limericks!" from Thomas and Phil Sueling with art by Tom Sutton. A two-page spread asks the eternal question "Who Says a Carnival has to be Good?" (words by Thomas and art by Severin and Arnold Drake).

After a hard-to-see pin-up of the Invisible Woman, the Hulk plays the Sidney Portier part in "Guess What's Coming to Dinner!" (script and art by Stu Schwartzberg, with inks by Sutton). Writer Gary Friedrich and artist Herb Trimpe do their best R. Crumb impersonation in a hippy rock album cover called "Cheap Shrills." Also, don't miss "Rent-a-Super-Hero!," "Dr. Deranged vs. Deapan!," "Adult Super-Hero Daydreams!" and "The Return of Forbush-Man!"
