Plot Synopsis: Marvel Westerns: Strange Westerns Starring Black Rider (2006) #1
Origin of the Black Rider. Marvel explores the supernatural side of the Old West in these new and old tales of the Lone Prairie. First, the Black Rider travels from the Southwest Territory all the way to New York City to visit his rich relatives and to avenge his father's death. He stumbles into a prostitution and opium ring being run out of Chinatown and a young martial arts master bent on shutting it down. "Black Homecoming" is written by Steve Englehart with art by Marshall Rogers and Al Vey.

Next, Gunhawk encounters a young buck who's made a deal with the Devil to be the fastest gun in the West. Unfortunately, being fast doesn't mean you're accurate and after being challenged, Gunhawk puts him in the ground! "The Midnight Gun" is written by Joe R. Lansdale and drawn by Rafa Garres. Next, the Rawhide Kid uncovers a town with a deadly secret. No bank for miles around is safe when "The Bat Strikes!" (Written by Stan Lee with art by Jack Kirby). Also, the Rawhide Kid meets "The Bulletproof Man!" (by Lee and Kirby).
