MARVEL UNIVERSE: THE END (2003) #1 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Marvel Universe: The End (2003) #1
"Predestination" is written by Jim Starlin and drawn by Starlin and Al Milgrom. The Beginning of the End of the Marvel Universe and featuring darn near everyone. In this six-part mini-series, Starlin sets out to destroy everything the House of Ideas has created. And when it comes to universal oblivion and the end of the world, Thanos of Titan is the best master of ceremonies one could come up with. It begins with Earth's most-powerful psychics - Jean Grey and Professor X - sharing the same vision of ancient Egypt. Akhenaten, the pharaoh who led his people away from the old gods and towards worship of the sun god Aten, returns to Earth after thousands of years of exile in space. Acting now as a cosmically powered agent of the Celestial Order, the once-pharaoh wants his rule back and more.

Akhenaten offers to spare the lives of Earth's leaders and heroes if they bend their knees to him and the Celestial Order. When the X-Men refuse, they are destroyed. When the Avengers and Fantastic Four resist, they too are wiped out without the slightest fight. In the wake of this sudden devastation of Earth's mightiest champions, strange alliances and plots form. Doctor Doom hatches his own scheme to bring Akhenaten down while Thanos teams with Captain Marvel and the Defenders - Sub-Mariner, Silver Surfer, Hulk and Dr. Strange to mount a counterattack. Meanwhile, the new ruler of Asgard, Thor, seeks out other gods to oppose this seemingly insurmountable conquest.
