And over time, he overcame his fear of motorcycles to become an expert rider like his late father and his adopted family. But a tragic accident claimed the life of Johnny's adopted mother.

Johnny's secret deathbed promise to stay away from stunt cycling earns him the label of coward from Crash Simpson and his beautiful daughter Roxie who carry on the family act. But when Crash gets his biggest gig yet, Madison Square Garden, fate and cancer conspire to keep him from his moment of glory. In desperation, Johnny makes a deal with the Devil to save Crash from his disease but in return Satan claims Johnny as his own; a spirit of vengeance: the terrifying Ghost Rider!
