|Plot Synopsis: JLA/JSA: Virtue & Vice HC (2002)|
Written by David Goyer and Geoff Johns and drawn by Carlos Pacheco. The annual meeting of Earth's mightiest super-teams is a DC tradition stretching back to the earliest days of the Silver Age. Goyer and Johns revive this glorious heritage by bringing together the JLA and JSA in a story that combines their teams against a duo of foes Despero and Johnny Sorrow. As the two teams gather at the Watchtower to get to know each other, tension suddenly and violently erupts at a Presidential visit to the African nation of Tanzania. The villain, Apokolips' body-shifting Doctor Bedlam, doesn't stand a chance against the combined might of the JLA and the JSA. But upon their return to the JLA headquarters, subtle rifts begin to form among the two teams.
Starting slowly at first and then increasingly more erratic and violent, mood swings take over Batman, Captain Marvel, Mr. Terrific, Green Lantern, Plastic Man, Dr. Fate and Power Girl. Turning on their teammates, the seven manifest the Seven Deadly Sins: Anger, Gluttony, Pride, Envy, Greed, Sloth and Lust. The remaining members of the JLA and JSA must overcome their teammates, travel to the Rock of Eternity to discover how to cure them and fight back Despero and Johnny Sorrow's seemingly endless cadre of villainous allies. Pacheco's beautiful artwork is a wonder to behold and it'll be hard to equal or surpass the work he's done here.
