HYPERKIND (CLIVE BARKER) (1993) #1 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Hyperkind (1993) #1
Premiere issue. Special foil-embossed cover. Origin of the Hyperkind. "Paxis Reborn" is written by Fred Burke with art by Paris Cullins and Bob Petrecca. Horror novelist Clive Barker inspired a whole new generation of supernatural heroes for Marvel's short-lived Razorline imprint of comics in the early 1990s. The Hyperkind are really just young adults off the streets of New York who happened to be in the wrong place at the right time. But for this weird twist of fate, the Earth is made a safer place.

A routine mugging of an old man and his dog reveals the victim's connection to a long line of costumed heroes dating back to World War I. These champions of freedom and liberty were known as Paxis and they used powers borne of alien energy to liberate Europe. All faded into obscurity, however, and of them only Eschbacher the super-soldier retains a fragment of his power. So when Thermakk, a reptilian enforcer of the alien Quo, comes to take that power back, the old man (who now remembers he is Eschbacher) knows he must pass it on to a new generation of Paxis!
