HULK (1962) (#1-6, #102-474, #600-635)(INCREDIBLE)(MV) #129 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Hulk (1962) #129
"Again, the Glob!" is written by Roy Thomas with art by Herb Trimpe. Above nearly all else, except for the love of Betty Ross, Bruce Banner needs friendship. So does his green-skinned alter ego, the Hulk. So when the nefarious Leader sees a chance to exploit that "weakness" in Banner, he jumps at the chance. In a wooded area outside the suburbs of Los Angeles, Dr. Banner reels from the Hulk's recent encounter with the Avengers. Half-naked and miles from civilization, Bruce is very happy to catch a ride with a passing truck-driver. Strangely though, the kind-hearted good Samaritan named Sam Sterns can't remember anything more about himself other than his name and that he is a laborer. He also knows that Banner turns into the Hulk.

In L.A., Sterns buys Banner a meal, gets him some clothes and a place to sleep. And at a local diner, Banner confesses that he needs a close friend to be able to rely on from time to time. Even the brutish Hulk once thought the swamp creature known as the Glob might be his friend once (see Hulk #121). Armed with this knowledge, Sterns suddenly leaves Banner and out of sight, becomes the Leader once more. Then, using his super-scientific gadgetry, the Leader reforms the Glob from the murky waters of the Florida Everglades and sends the shambling beast across the country with one mission in mind: destroy the Hulk. On a high electrical tower, the creature nearly succeeds! The Glob, Thomas' homage to the Golden Age Heap is a precursor to Marvel's own Man-Thing!
