HAWKMAN (2002) (#1-49) (DC) #17 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Hawkman (2002) #17
"The Thanagarian Part III" is written by Geoff Johns and drawn by Rags Morales and Michael Bair. Guest-starring Hawkwoman and Animal Man. The Hawkman and Hawkgirl who currently serve in the JSA are Carter Hall and Kendra Saunders, the reincarnated Egyptians who first discovered a downed Thanagarian ship many centuries ago and gained the gravity-defying power of Nth Metal. Katar Hol and Shayera Thal were Thanagarian police officers who traveled to Earth years ago to study our law enforcement tactics, also calling themselves Hawkman and Hawkwoman. However, Katar Hol was lost in battle perhaps trapped in Limbo, perhaps dead. But his old vendettas didn't pass with him.

A drug-runner and murderous smuggler named Byth traveled to Earth from Thanagar as well in order to escape justice. Using his shapeshifting abilities he recently impersonated Katar Hol, his oldest and most bitter enemy, but Shayera Thal saw through his subterfuge. Now, careening through the streets of St. Roch, she battles Byth alongside Animal Man, who can assume the abilities of any animal in his vicinity. The bloody struggle rages on and takes to the air where Byth steals the Brontadon from the Hawks' hangar. But the skies are exactly where the Hawks are their deadliest!
