HAWKMAN (2002) (#1-49) (DC) #14 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Hawkman (2002) #14
"Killers," part 2 is written by Geoff Johns and drawn by Don Kramer and Prentis Rollins. As the Hawks clash violently over whether Hawkgirl should end the life of the man who murdered her parents, that very same man, St. Roch Chief of Police Nedal is making a bargain with the devil (specifically, the Gentleman Ghost). In exchange for Nedal wreaking even more havoc on the Hawks and their friends, the Gentleman Ghost distracts the Hawks long enough for the murderer to escape. Unable to harm the Gentleman Ghost's incorporeal form, the Hawks must listen helplessly as the villain explains that it was he who set Nedal on to Kendra Saunders' parents many years ago.

The Gentleman Ghost's spirit is trapped on the mortal plane as long as the Hawks keep getting reincarnated. This is due to the fact that one of Hawkman's earlier incarnations, the Wild West hero Nighthawk, hanged the man who was to become the Gentleman Ghost for allegedly assaulting Hawkgirl's earlier incarnation, Cinnamon. Meanwhile, Nedal makes his way back to the Stonechat Museum and goes on a shooting spree, killing Carter Hall's one-time girlfriend Jayita. Now it's the enraged Hawkman's turn to decide if he's a killer or a hero. And don't miss this issue's surprise twist ending! (See Atom #43 to read of the Aerial Ace's first encounter with the Gentleman Ghost).
