GREEN LANTERN (1960) (#1-224) (DC) #54 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Green Lantern (1960) #54
First appearance of Baron Tyrano. "Menace in the Iron Lung" is written by John Broome with art by Gil Kane. A super-hero's relationship with his or her alter ego is always fertile ground for the writer of comic books. The questions run deep when one assumes another identity. Which is the real hero, the costumed adventurer or the everyday person? Which is the real personality? Which ego leads and which follows?

Green Lantern gets a chance to explore this psychological dynamic when the evil Baron Tyrano plots to divide him from Hal Jordan, his civilian self. Although he's trapped in an iron lung, the Baron has a lot of resources with which to accomplish this fantastic deed: a fully equipped super-scientific laboratory, a bogus cover story about an insurance claim, a team of henchmen with nutty names like Arturo, Scruffy and Blinker and a super-strong android with a punch like a bull elephant! Ultimately, it's up to Hal Jordan to save GL's bacon for a change!
