DETECTIVE COMICS (1937) (#0-881) (DC) #344 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Detective Comics (1937) #344
"The Crime Boss Who Was Always One Step Ahead of Batman" is written and drawn by Bob Kane with cover art by Carmine Infantino. Renowned as the World's Greatest Living Detective, Batman stakes his life every night on his ability to outsmart his opponents. So when a criminal like Johnny Witts comes along, who seemingly can out-think even the legendary Darknight Detective, you know you are in for an adventure. It begins when a friendly old lady offers Robin a poisoned apple and continues at a trap-laden criminal hideout in the middle of the city. It's all the Dynamic Duo can do to stay alive; let alone try to stop Johnny Witts' crime spree.

As Batman literally dangles by a thread from the rooftop of Witts' midtown hideout, Robin hides away in the trunk of a car driven by two of Witts' flunkies. Once they are well out of Gotham City, the thugs spring a surprise on the Boy Wonder: they knew all along he was stowing away and are ready with guns drawn. The only way Batman and Robin can get ahead of Witts' game is to think three steps ahead of the criminal mastermind! Then, follow the Elongated Man and his lovely wife Sue Dibny to the City of Lights: Paris, where a crime-minded magician has the Ductile Detective swinging from the Eiffel Tower. And why has Sue suddenly changed bodies with Monica, the magician's partner in crime? Read "Peril in Paris!," drawn by Infantino.
