DEADLINE (2002) #4 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Deadline (2002) #4
Written by Bill Rosemann and drawn by Guy Davis. For a reporter, a good, solid lead is like gold, especially for a young up-and-comer like Kat Farrell, who covers the super-hero beat for the Daily Bugle. But what price is she willing to pay? To what lengths will she go to chase down the story behind the mysterious vigilante known as the Judge? When her investigation spurs someone to break into her apartment, killing her goldfish, has she become the story? Undaunted, Kat continues chasing after the origin of the Judge and how he turned from being a leading jurist into the wraithlike punisher of criminals he now is.

Having a great story can also lead to professional jealousy, and through a little sleuthing, Kat is able to pin the goldfish murder on Paul Swanson, a rival reporter who resents her success. That little bit of inner office drama wins her the approval of veteran newshound Ben Urich, who can offer her a little bit of advice on how to handle reporting about costumed do-gooders (see Daredevil). To find out who has been killing off minor super-villains around the city, Kat only needs to follow her instincts. And they lead her right to the Tinkerer. (Fans of Davis should check out the Nevermen, Sandman Mystery Theatre and The Marquis).
