DC: NEW FRONTIER (2004) #1 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: DC: The New Frontier #1
"Our Fighting Forces" is written and drawn by Darwyn Cooke with Dave Stewart. World War II is over but for the Losers Cap'n Storm, pilot John Cloud, Gunner and Sarge and their faithful dog Pooch one last mission must be performed. An O.S.S. team led by Col. Richard Flagg has been stranded on a lost island in the Pacific with a former Nazi scientist in tow. Nearing the island, the Losers' PT boat is caught up in a sudden tidal wave and they are marooned on the tropical island. It isn't long before they discover they aren't alone. Deadly dinosaurs roam free here and one by one the Losers fight their final, fatal battles against overwhelming odds. Col. Flagg is discovered alone with records of the Nazi's secret experiments but only he escapes from the reptilian monsters.

Years later, the Korean Conflict sputters to a tenuous end and USAF pilot Hal Jordan flies with his wingman Ace Morgan through MIG alley battling an enemy that doesn't know the war is over. After a vicious dogfight in which the MIGs take a licking, Jordan and Morgan bail out over the DMZ (demilitarized zone) and into the path of advancing North Korean patrols. Only the timely intervention of an Army helicopter in which Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane and photobug Jimmy Olsen ride saves Jordan's life. Meanwhile, the House Un-American Activities Committee turns its prying, suspicious eyes from suspected Communists to costumed mystery men, forcing the Justice Society of America into retirement and the Hourman off the roof of a building. Meanwhile, the U.S. government sends Superman, one of its few sanctioned heroes, out to round up Gotham City's Bat-Man but the Man of Steel and the Darknight Detective fight to a draw.
