DC COMICS PRESENTS (1978) #43 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: DC Comics Presents (1978) #43
Starring Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes. Guest-starring the Justice League of America. "In Final Battle" is written by Paul Levitz and drawn by Curt Swan and Dave Hunt. Cover by Brian Bolland. Superman must rely on his old friends from the future, the Legion of Super-Heroes, to ensure Earth survives long enough to make it to the 30th century where they're from. When the intergalactic criminal Mongul teams with a monstrous Sun-Eater to threaten the planet, Superman races off to confront his enemy on the lunar surface.

However, the Man of Steel quickly gets in over his head and becomes imprisoned in a shrinking cube of force by the ultra-powerful Mongul. Alarmed by Superman's defeat, Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen call in some help. Lois calls the Justice League and Jimmy summons his former allies, the Legion of Super-Heroes! After freeing Superman they take down Mongul and the Sun-Eater by combining their powers. In an apparent plot-hole, however, in the self-congratulatory afterglow of the battle, no one seems to care that the JLA has seemingly been wiped out. Oops.
