DARK WOLF (1987) (#1-4) (MALIBU) #3 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Dark Wolf (MBU) #3
"Night Crawlers" is written by R.A. Jones and drawn by Butch Burcham. Part Batman, part Wolverine, part werewolf, Dark Wolf is a demonic hero who shares his existence with a priest and harbors a spirit of vengeance against the evil cult that killed his true love many years ago. As our story begins, Dark Wolf is battling the super-charged punk called Holocaust whose hatred of Jews hides a deep shame about his own heritage. The self-loathing villain is an agent of Abraxis, the medieval Satan-worshipper Dark Wolf has been hunting for centuries.

With Holocaust behind him and his long-time prey almost in his sights, Dark Wolf pursues his leads with a burning ire that borders on the supernatural. The Lords of Life, the cult loyal to Abraxis, believe that their leader, who has survived the tortuous passing of time, will lead them to victory and eternal life. But they haven't counted on the savagery and tenacity that drives Dark Wolf on. Seemingly derivative in theme, Dark Wolf might easily be discounted by fans as yet another "troubled anti-hero" like Wolverine or Batman, but Jones' writing lifts it above that superficial similarity and offers real value, excitement and entertainment.
