DAREDEVIL (1964) (#1-380) (MAN WITHOUT FEAR) (MARVEL) #77 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Daredevil (1964) #77
"And So Enters the Amazing Spider-Man" is written by Gerry Conway with art by Gene Colan and Tom Palmer. Guest-starring Spider-Man and Sub-Mariner. Cover by Sal Buscema. One of the hallmarks of Marvel super-heroes that stands in stark contrast to other comic publishers' costumed adventurers is their incredible propensity for angst and sorrow. Despite all of their power and skill, despite all of their good deeds and the lives they've saved, still they suffer from the same human frailties of the heart as everyone else.

Witness Spider-Man's mute jealousy over Daredevil's presupposed "perfect life" as the love-sick wall-crawler sees the Man Without Fear swinging through Manhattan, seemingly without a care. Meanwhile, DD is wrapped up in a personal drama of his own, unable to conquer his feelings of loneliness and isolation since Karen Page left him to seek a movie career in Hollywood. Luckily for our melancholic masked men, both Spidey and DD get a break from their internal musings when Namor the Sub-Mariner shows up in Central Park near a strange glowing object the size and shape of a giant teardrop. The heroes arrive to battle Subby while at the same time trying to unravel the mystery of the travelers from beyond who watch their struggles with a cool and alien intellect!
