DAREDEVIL (1964) (#1-380) (MAN WITHOUT FEAR) (MARVEL) #57 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Daredevil (1964) #57
"In the Midst of Life...!" is written by Roy Thomas with art by Gene Colan and Syd Shores. The concept of a "secret identity" is central to the genre of super-hero fiction. For heroes, their true self is hidden from the criminals they battle in order to protect the innocents in their lives from retribution. For villains, a guise is put on to throw off the authorities and to evade justice.

In this tale, rife with more than a few gothic romance overtones (ala Dark Shadows, which was popular at the time of its printing), our hero Daredevil is unmasked not just once but twice. The first time it's after a near-death run-in with the cops while being forced to wear a Death's Head costume by the phantasmagorical villain of the same name. The second time by his true love, Karen Page, who DD feels deserves to know that the man she thought was dead, Matt Murdock, yet lives!
