CONAN (1970) (#1-275) (CONAN THE BARBARIAN) (MARVEL) #58 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Conan (1970) #58
First appearance of Belit. "Queen of the Black Coast!" is written by Roy Thomas with art by John Buscema and Steve Gan. Beginning a new adventure for Conan straight from the writings of Robert E. Howard. On the run from the authorities at Messantia for killing a judge whose laws he didn't take a liking to, Conan joins the crew of an Argossean merchant bound for Kush. And although the ship's captain Tito is quite taken aback by the large Cimmerian's brash approach, he agrees that having a swordsman aboard is not a bad idea.

As the ship sails past Shem and Stygia and makes its way toward Kush, Tito explains to Conan that, of late, they've been beset by pirates. And sure enough, as soon as they make land at Kush, they see evidence that the raiders have struck again. After putting out back to sea, the Argosseans are horrified to find the pirate ship now has them in its sights. The battle is joined and Conan slays many a reaver before surrendering to their captain, the beautiful Belit, Queen of the Black Coast!
