CONAN (1970) (#1-275) (CONAN THE BARBARIAN) (MARVEL) #19 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Conan (1970) #19
"Hawks From the Sea!" is written by Roy Thomas with art by Barry Smith and Dan Adkins. Among the many drawbacks to being a castaway is that you can't choose who rescues you or what you might get dragged into along with them. Witness the new destiny now written for Conan and his newfound friend, the red-haired Vanir axeman named Fafnir. Taken from the shores of doomed Bal-Sagoth by a Turanian warship, the unlikely pair now find themselves in the midst of a holy war between the empire of Turan and the city-state of Makkalet.

Religious zealots on both sides of the conflict vow blood will spill over the abduction of the Living Tarim, a holy man whose lineage can be traced back to the original culture hero who led his people out of the sinking land of Lemuria. Makkalet's weak-minded king has let his chief advisor, a priest named Kharam-Akkad, launch this dangerous gambit and as the Turanians, including Conan and Fafnir, storm the shores of the kingdom, it's Kharam he turns to for a solution. The Stygian priest answers by summoning nine undying giants!
