CIVIL WAR: HOUSE OF M (2008) #1 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Civil War: House of M (2008) #1
Premiere issue. "Chapter 1: Rise" is written by Christos Gage and drawn by Andrea Divito. During the time of the House of M, with a word from the Scarlet Witch reality was re-made with mutants in the majority and non-powered humans a dying breed. At the top of the mutant pecking order was none other than Magneto himself, one of the most powerful mutants ever. But how did Magneto, who was also the Wanda (Scarlet Witch) Maximoff's father, make his way to the top? This storyline answers this question by delving into the past remade by the Hex power of the beautiful but troubled Scarlet Witch.

Born from the horrors of Auschwitz, Erik Magnus Lensherr's terrible power to control metal at first seems more of a curse than a boon. Although he escapes from the Nazi death camps, Erik never manages to get away from the prejudices and evil born of hatred from men who fear what is different from themselves. With the death of his daughter in a fire he can't stop because a mutant-hating mob holds him back, Erik becomes something more than a downtrodden mutant. He becomes a fighter. But before he can lead mutants the world over in their struggle against oppression, he has to prove his worth against another mutant of tremendous power: Apocalypse!
