CHALLENGERS OF THE UNKNOWN (1958) (#1-87) (DC) #60 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Challengers of the Unknown (1958) #60
The return of Red Ryan! "The Thing That Could Not Die" is drawn by Bob Brown. The Challengers return to the tropic isle where they defeated the living stone idol Seekeenakee to make sure the menace is truly through. But instead of a smashed statue, they find a massive reptile man who, after taking some damage, turns into a phoenix and flies off. Fearing they are facing another villain like Multi-Man, the Challs check out their super-prison housing the big-brained lout, Kra the outlaw robot and Volcano Man.

Multi-Man tells the Challs he gave the secret of his transforming formula to a masked stranger who lied and offered him freedom in exchange. But the closer the Challs come to tracking down their new foe, the more they realize they are chasing Red Ryan, their fallen comrade they had feared dead. As a giant gorilla and a metal titan, Red proves a tough opponent to bring down! Also, enjoy "2 Hours to Die!" a Challenger classic reprint.
