CHALLENGERS OF THE UNKNOWN (1958) (#1-87) (DC) #59 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Challengers of the Unknown (1958) #59
"Seekeenakee...The Petrified Giant!" The Challs aren't like any other super-team. They don't have any super-human powers. They aren't mutants or gods. They don't wear high-tech armor or carry super-scientific weaponry. They can't fly, shoot eye-beams or dodge bullets. In short, they are just plain mortal. But that doesn't stop them from taking on some superhuman menaces. Instead of fantastical powers, the Challs use their skills, their wits and some good old-fashioned luck to save the day.

Case in point: When the king of a far-flung Polynesian island, who is a chess-playing buddy of Prof, goes missing, the team springs into action. With Red, their mountain-climbing acrobat believed dead, the Challs are down to just three members. But as they investigate the island, they are joined by Tino, Red's little brother who has some mad skills of his own. The Challs uncover that their friend has been deposed by a stone giant named Seekeenakee, who claims to be a god. This rocky rascal has recruited a quartet of bad guys to help him conquer the South Pacific. And only the Challs stand in his way!
