CHALLENGERS OF THE UNKNOWN (1958) (#1-87) (DC) #54 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Challengers of the Unknown (1958) #54
"War of the Sub-Humans!" Writer F.E. Herron and artist Bob Brwon crank up the super-hero silliness in this campy caper full of megalomaniacal villains, wacky monsters and goofy henchmen. In the mid-1960s when the Batman TV show was taking the nation by storm, DC Comics' titles like Challengers answered the fans' calls for more and more colorful super-villains. Enter Villo, Brainex and newcomer Bubble-Master in a plot-line full of superfluous banter and madcap mayhem.

Villo and Brainex, the living computer, have summoned giant block-headed green men from the Calculus Dimension to wreak havoc all over the world. Their aim is to draw the Challengers into a fight and to humiliate them publicly thereby cementing their reputations as the nastiest bad guys around. Bubble-Master, a novice super-crook with a knack for blowing bubbles, asks Villo to take him on as an apprentice; making it a trio of terror. Can the Challs stand up to this triple threat from the criminal underworld?
