CHALLENGERS OF THE UNKNOWN (1958) (#1-87) (DC) #40 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Challengers of the Unknown (1958) #40
Thrill to this pair of adventurous tales of four men who defied death and are living on borrowed time. "The Super Powers of the Challengers" is written by F. Herron and drawn by Bob Brown. A pair of high-tech crooks steals an experimental aircraft capable of traveling as easily in water as it does in the air. When these larcenous louts take to robbing banks, the Challs use new inventions to counter their menace. Prof uses an experimental diving suit that allows him to swim deeper than any deep-sea diver. Ace flies with the help of a jet-pack and Red's special suit creates man-made lightning. Rocky, meanwhile, just relies on good, old-fashioned toughness!

"The Spy in Challenger Cave" is written by Arnold Drake and drawn by Brown. Red, Ace, Prof and Rocky are flying above the city when they receive the call that an art gallery is being robbed. They arrive on the scene before the police and encounter the bizarre Mr. Voodoo who manages to escape even though he must leave his loot behind. The Challs head back to Challenger Mountain unaware that the villain has placed a mechanical spider-spy on their ship. This high-tech snoop relays information back to the Challs' old enemy, Multi-Man, who soon invades with an army of robotic killer bees!
