CHALLENGERS OF THE UNKNOWN (1958) (#1-87) (DC) #31 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Challengers of the Unknown (1958) #31
"The Man Who Saved the Challengers' Lives!" is drawn by Bob Brown. Origin of the Challengers of the Unknown retold. Fans of the Challs know that Rocky, Ace, Prof and Red are all men living on borrowed time. A plane crash that should've taken their lives didn't and having survived that horrific day, these four men devoted their "second lives" to aiding the innocent, seeking justice and protecting humanity from a host of supernatural and intergalactic menaces. But who were these four adventurers before they boarded that aircraft that fateful day?

Just before boarding the p lane, Rocky found himself the victim of a Mob plot to throw his wrestling bout and although he'd been drugged, the pro athlete beat his opponent and smashed the gang of racketeers in the process. Red unwittingly helped a would-be South American dictator set up a broadcast tower for his propaganda but was able to turn things around at the last minute. Prof nearly ruined a famous sea explorer's chance to repay a fishing village's kindness by raising a statue of King Neptune from the depths where it had fallen. And Ace nearly blew himself up trying to help some Alaskan gold miners strike it rich. But one man claims to have been the one who pulled them all from the burning wreckage of their aircraft. And now he wants the Challs to help him rebuild an Aztec collossus for mysterious reasons. But can he be trusted?
