AVENGERS (1998) (#0-84, 500-503) (MARVEL) #64 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Avengers (1997) #64
Spotlight on the Falcon. "Sight Unseen" is written by Geoff Johns and drawn by Ivan Reis and Oclair Albert. It's a moral tale of second chances Johns presents here. Sam Wilson ended up on the street, in gangs and drugs, before he met Captain America and become his crime-fighting partner, the Falcon. But even that role was originally crafted for him by the maniacal Nazi, the Red Skull, for he was meant to be used as a weapon against the Star-Spangled Avenger. However, the Falcon drew upon his religious upbringing to throw off the mistakes and tyranny of the past and now serves as an justice-seeking Avenger.

Henry Gyrich, the Avengers' liaison to the United Nations, similarly walked a dark path. To the Falcon's sight, Gyrich stands at a crossroads. While unable to fully see the path of light ahead of him, Gyrich soon comes to realize his old enemy, the Falcon can now become his guide. In matters of clear right and wrong (such as the cruelly twisted Scarecrow kidnaping two young girls), the Falcon knows there is no choice but to fight for the innocent. However, Gyrich's path is muddier with the U.S. government's Secretary of Defense asking him to sell out the Avengers' most-closely guarded secrets. Which road with Gyrich choose?
