ARAK (SON OF THUNDER) (DC) (1981) #2 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Arak #2
"The Devil Takes a Bride" is written by Roy Thomas with art by Ernie Colon and Tony DeZuniga. After a draining battle with a monstrous sea-serpent, the best sight a young warrior could hope to see would be a beautiful woman on a sun-streaked beach. But this stunning vision named Corinna is much more than she seems as Arak soon discovers. In a tiny kingdom on the edge of Frankland, the lovely female and, Lord Hessa, a half-demon sorcerer who appears to be her father, are all alone in their castle - except for empty suits of armor magically given life and a very important prisoner in their donjon. He is Malagigi, court wizard to the king of Frankland Carolus Magnus, who will someday be called Charlemagne.

Falling afoul of Lord Hessa and overpowered by both the wizard's demonic grip and the metal men-at-arms he commands, Arak soon joins Malagigi in his stony cell. But it's not long before Corinna frees him and begs his aid to flee Lord Hessa and his realm. When Arak complies, the maiden tells a story of her grandmother who summoned and then mated with the demon Belial, begetting Lord Hessa. Convincing the young warrior that Hessa seeks to give her over to Belial as well, Corinna succeeds in entering Frankland. As she does, however, the Earth splits asunder and Belial rises to take his prize!
