MARVEL TEAM-UP (1972) (#1-150) (MARVEL) #106 - Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Marvel Team-Up (1972) #106
Starring Spider-Man and Captain America. "A Savage Sting Has The Scorpion!" is written by Tom DeFalco and drawn by Herb Trimpe and Mike Esposito. Languishing away in a criminal mental ward, a man named Gargan is a gurgling invalid, babbling on about his plans for revenge against Daily Bugle publisher J. Jonah Jameson. Years ago, J.J. convinced the young criminal to undergo radical gene-alteration, turning him into the Scorpion–a foe the newspaperman thought could defeat the hated Spider-Man. But after many attempts, the Scorpion failed, eventually being sent to a lunatic asylum.

However, when a naive young psychiatrist wrongly assumes returning the Scorpion costume to Gargan will aid in his recovery, the villain reveals that he'd been faking his mental illness all along. Escaping, the Scorpion beefs up the destructive power of his fantastic tail and recruits a new gang. Their targets: the Daily Bugle, Jameson and Spider-Man in that order. During a showdown with J.J., however, the Scorpion unexpectedly encounters Captain America and Spider-Man. A battle royale, with J.J. playing hostage in the middle, ensues as the enraged criminal attempts to rid himself of all of his foes in one fell swoop.
