BRAVE AND THE BOLD (1955) #60 - Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Brave and the Bold #60
First appearance of the new Wonder Girl (Donna Troy)! Calling themselves the Teen Titans for the first time, Robin, Kid Flash and Aqualad are joined by Wonder Girl to help yet another town of teens out of hot water. When the grown-ups of Midville agreed to let the teens take over city government for a day they were pleasantly surprised to find things running even smoother than before. That is until a huge disembodied hand starting menacing the town. The hand is followed by a foot and an eye and a mouth and soon everyone is pointing a finger at young Tommy Holmes whose infamous scientist father is in jail for having used a serum to become the Separated Man in the first place. When no one believes the teen or his escapee father that someone else to blame, the Teen Titans step in to restore peace and trust in the community.

DC writers must have hoped that the teen unrest of the mid-'60s could all be solved with a good rap session with adults. And it's clear that trust is the key missing component in the otherwise tranquil scene depicted here. A truly creepy villain (who owes just a bit to the movie the "Amazing Colossal Man" of 1957) drives the story along as we see just what this quartet of super-teens can do. A classic scene is when the four stride into the teen clubhouse arm in arm and then lead a group of motor scooters after the giant hand in the sky!
