Comics And Toy Auction This Saturday
Win A $500 Shopping Spree!

Howdy!

If you are looking for something fun to do this Saturday morning, might I suggest attending our annual Mile High Comics holiday auction? Our 11:30 AM auction at our Jason St. Mega-Store is the largest in our 40-year history, with 1,200 items being offered, including comics, toys, action figures, statues, signed prints, and much, much more. With over 1,200 items to bid on, I will absolutely guarantee you that you will win some amazing bargains!

So you know, I am the auctioneer at our auctions, and I make certain that all young collectors and readers attending our auctions get preference. Simply put, if I see a kid bidding on an item, the odds are good that I will cut off the bidding at some low figure, and just let them win. While my doing this occasionally peeves some of our older collectors, I give kids preference at our auctions because I am well aware that most young people have limited budgets, and because I believe that we adults all have a responsibility to support, and encourage, our next generation of comics fans. That having been said, I do also make certain that all of our serious collectors go home happy, too. That's why we made this auction 1,200 items...

As an aside, our annual holiday auction consists primarily of stocking-stuffer items, many of which are in the $3-$6 range. If you have never before taken your child to an auction, Saturday's event will not only be a great way for you to spend quality time together during the holidays, but also for your youngster to be able to pick up some fun comics-related collectibles at very low cost. If you are a more sophisticated collector, I encourage you to check out the photos of some of the 100 auction lots which are posted to our Mile High Comics Facebook page. I think that you will quickly see that we intentionally made this auction extremely diverse, specifically to make certain that we would have lots of great deals for absolutely everyone.

On a related note, I personally believe that we also have a responsibility to do whatever we can to help those in need in our community, especially during the holiday season. For that reason, I have been soliciting for donations for Urban Peak, a local charitable organization that helps the estimated 2,000 homeless children and teens living on Denver's streets. My request has been met with a flood of generosity, with over $5,000 in comics and collectibles having already been donated, and more coming in by the day. All of the donated collectibles will be sold individually starting at 11:30 AM on Saturday morning, with absolutely no reserves. Photos of all those that we've already received items are posted to our Mile High Comics FaceBook page, with a few of the choices items pictured below.

I will close today's newsletter by quickly mentioning that items in our auctions typically sell for a tiny 10%-30% of original retail price. Those are the percentages we achieve when we have 600 items, and perhaps 40 bidders. With 1,200 of our own items goi g up for sale on Saturday, plus over items for Urban Peak, some items may sell for even lower than those meager percentages. Don't miss out on this auction, as this Saturday may well turn out to be the best day you've ever had for scoring great comics, book, and toy bargains. And if this will be your first time attending an auction, do not worry. I promise you that I make participating in our auctions is both fun, and very easy.

Happy Collecting!

President - Mile High Comics, Inc.

P.S. The Urban Peak portion of our auction is a co-production of Mile High Comics, and the Imperial Court of the Rocky Mountain Empire, a registered 501-C3 charity that has been raising money for kids in need for over 40 years in the Denver community. I am an officer of the ICRME, and I asked our leader, Caeri Mancini, to be at Saturday morning's auction. He will be selling $1 tickets that qualify you to possibly win a $500 (!) shopping spree at any of our Mile High Comics stores. The drawing for the shopping spree will be held immediately after the Urba Leak items have been sold. That should be around 12:30. We will also have $1 mystery bags available filled with goodies from Mile High Comics, and (of course!) free refreshments.
