Local News - Very Important Comics and Toys Auction this Saturday!

Howdy!

Today's newsletter is all about the charitable efforts that we are working on right now here at Mile High Comics. I will begin by mentioning quickly that we have a huge comics and toys auction planned for this Saturday morning at Jason St., starting at 11:30 AM. While the core of the auction is to help us pay our company bills, we will also be auctioning a significant number of items where all of the revenues received will go to help to purchase warm winter clothing for those who are homeless here in Denver, and also in Albuquerque.

While the majority of the items that we will be auctioning for the benefit of the poor will be coming from Mile High Comics, we are still very much seeking donations of items to include in the charity part of the auction. If you would like to help us to provide warm socks, caps, scarves and gloves to the people who are forced to spend their nights outdoors in our city in below-freezing weather, we would be most appreciative. Just bring your unwanted collectibles with you to Jason St., and we will auction them for you on Saturday morning, with 100% of the proceeds being spent on clothing for the poor.

Aside from auctioning certain items to purchase warm clothing for Denver's poor, we are also going to have a little mini-auction to help to purchase new prosthetic legs for a 9 year-old girl who lives in Costa Rica. This beautiful young lady had a rare heart disorder when she was only four years old that caused her to have both her legs amputated at the knees, and also both of her arms at the elbows. She received her current prosthetics when she was six, and has now outgrown them, and desperately needs new ones. We are going to auction the following three great comics to help her to cover that $2,700 cost, and we will also have a chance drawing for an incredibly wild NEGAN WALKING DEAD statue that just arrived this week.

WALKING DEAD NEGAN Statue

In case you are wondering, I learned of this little girl's desperate plight from my dear friend Henry Bastos-Wood, who was the Emperor of our New York Imperial Court last year. Henry was born in Costa Rica, and was visiting there last weekend as a judge for the Miss Costa Rica World pageant. Henry heard about this young girl from the organizers of the pageant, and is pictured with the young lady in the photo below. Henry brought her a cool stuffed dragon as a gift from New York, but when he realized that her prosthetic legs no longer fit, he contacted me to see if I could help in any way. That is why we are auctioning the three comics, and having the chance drawing for the NEGAN WALKING DEAD statue for her. Please come on Saturday morning and support our auction and chance drawing!

I will close with a couple of quick plugs for our upcoming poker game (also a benefit for warm clothing) and also the New Era Wrestling exhibition that will both be taking place on Saturday at Jason St. This Saturday is going to be an incredibly fun day at Mile High Comics!
