STAR WARS #11, DEADPOOL #1, Free CAPTAIN AMERICA (2012) #1
Howdy!
I want to start off today by mentioning that our new 30% off HAPPINESS! codeword sale
on most of our
ten million back issue comics and magazines
has been very positively
received. We experienced a flurry of HAPPINESS! orders over the weekend, and that
strong demand continued into this morning. We are also still selling the heck out
of our trade paperbacks and hardbacks, probably because we still have their prices
pegged at 30%-60% off. Please do enjoy these great discounts with our sincere thanks
for your support of our efforts on your behalf here at
Mile High Comics.
I'll continue by mentioning that the deluge of "likes" that we have been receiving on
Facebook
for our new exclusive Mile High Comics variant editions has been nothing short
of amazing! In just four days our
STAR WARS (2015) #10 variant
edition received 4,422
(!) positive responses, our
SECRET WARS (2015) #6
received 1,872, and our upcoming
DEADPOOL (2015) #1
received a stunning 3,198 "likes." The response to our new DEADPOOL series was
most impressive to us, as we were initially only able to show fans black and white artwork
preliminary artwork of the cover. Now that we have received the finished artwork, I think
that DEADPOOL #1 may soon outpoll both STAR WARS and SECRET WARS.
DEADPOOL (2015) #1 MHC VARIANT
Even if you do not have any interest in collecting
our variants
, the extremely positive numbers
that I just reported should make you happy. Why? Because it has been the strength of response
to our program of publishing limited edition
Mile High Comics variant editions that helped us
bridge the financial gap created by Marvel's decision to not publish most of their titles this
summer. Simply put, we were only able to maintain the steep prices decreases that I put into
effect on all of our back issues last April because our variants program has been so remarkably
successful. So, even if you have no interest in collecting our variants, you have actually
benefited directly from their existence if you have placed any back issue order with us over
the past six months.
STAR WARS (2015) #10 MHC VARIANT
For those of you who DO collect our variant editions, the past year has been remarkably successful
for you as you have gained from steady appreciation in the secondary market value of ALL the variants
that you purchased from us. Our program of publishing long runs of extremely limited edition variants
on our selected titles (
STAR WARS,
PRINCESS LEIA,
SECRET WAR, and
DEADPOOL
) required a scary
commitment of our scarce working capital, but that risk is now paying off handsomely as we are
seeing more and more fans who purchased earlier issues now signing on for advance subscriptions
of all our future editions.
SECRET WARS (2015) #6 MHC VARIANT
What this means for those of you who started buying our variants from the beginning is a substantial
gain in secondary market value, as our early issues are becoming increasingly scarce and desirable.
At the
Salt Lake Comic-Con, for example, we sold over $1,000 in our backlist Mile High Comics variant
editions per day! That exceptionally strong response is forcing us to revisit our pricing structure
on our Mile High Comics editions, as our goal all along has been to maintain stock on all of them
for many years. At our current rate of sale, that now appears impossible. Our variants of STAR WARS
(2015) #1-#6 seem most at risk of running out, as the release of the new movie is now only 11 weeks
away.
STAR WARS (2015) #11 MHC VARIANT
All of the above having been said, I urge you to take two actions today. First, if you are missing any
of our earlier
Mile High Comics variant editions
, it would be a very good idea to go ahead and order
them from us this week. I will be revising all of our backlist variants prices effective next weekend.
My second bit of counsel would be to start subscriptions right away to receive our upcoming
STAR WARS and
DEADPOOL
variants. Our advance order price is only $19.95 each, which you are only charged
as they are released. I have seen trailers for both the STAR WARS and the DEADPOOL movies, and I
think that they are going to be huge hits. Need I say more?

CAPTAIN AMERICA (2012) #1 Phantom Variant
I will close today's newsletter by offering those of you a free
CAPTAIN AMERICA (2012) #1 Phantom Group variant edition
as a free reward for placing any minimum $40 order with us this week. Phantom
Group variants are particularly collectible, as they are generally printed in tiny quantities, and
then parceled out among only 20 retailers. Please keep in mind, however, TO receive your free
CAPTAIN AMERICA (2012) #1
you must meet that $40 minimum order requirement after your 30% off
HAPPINESS! discount has first been applied, you can then request a free copy in the "notes" section of our online order form. The HAPPINESS! codeword discount applies to most of
our ten million back issue comics and magazines, excluding only our
new comics
, a few variants,
and our
CGC-graded issues
. Enjoy!
Happy collecting!
