Silver Age Marvel Comics Collection Arrives
Howdy!
The past couple of days have been very exciting for us here at
Mile High Comics, as we
have purchased two really nice collections of 1960's Silver Age comics. Combined with
the excellent collection of early Marvel comics that I purchased three weeks ago, we
are now starting to make excellent progress on restocking our website with highly
desirable older comics.
A few of the Silver Age Comics
In case you are wondering, the reason why we are having to restock so many of our
older comics these days is that the very generous across-the-board price decreases
that I put into effect on our
website in April dropped the prices on all of our
Silver Age comics in half (!).With our 30% off STARWARS! codeword sale now
decreasing those crazy half off prices even further, we have been blowing
out of entire collections of older
Marvel and
DC titles, almost as quickly
as we can list them!

To illustrate what I mean, I just saw an order come through our website for 3 of
the Marvel comics (
FANTASTIC FOUR #52,
STRANGE TALES #126, and
TALES OF SUSPENSE #75
) from yesterday's SA collection.
Will Moulton only posted that collection
to our website 20 minutes ago! This nearly instantaneous sale came about because
we have several thousand fans who have let us know (via our website Want List
program) about which titles and issue numbers that they are seeking for their
collections. Immediately after posting each day's new arrivals to our website,
Will runs a program which sends out free notification e-mails to those astute
fans, letting them know if any comics, books, or magazines that they are seeking
for their collections have arrived.
A few more of the Silver Age Comics
Since those clever fans have all of our pertinent
New-In-Stock
information sent to them,
it should come as no surprise to anyone that a disproportionate number of our newly
arrived comics (and most especially the scarcer issues...) are purchased by Want List
program participants, oftentimes within minutes after they are listed on our website.
If you have not yet filled out a
Want List with us, I highly encourage you to do so.
This is a free tool that we have created specifically so you can know immediately
whenever comics arrive in our warehouse that you are seeking. It only takes a minute
to create a Want List password, and then you then you can browse through our entire
website and check off as many issues you would like to possibly own. We do not
charge a cent for this service, and there is never any sort of obligation for you
to buy anything, unless that is your wish. 'Nuff said...
In other news, we took the time recently to create some really cool summary pages of certain
genres of comics that are especially popular on our website. Click on any one of the links
listed below, and you will be transported immediately to a cool visual display of all
the comics from the genre listed:
STAR WARS (2015)
PHANTOM COMICS GROUP VARIANTS
LIMITED EDITION NFL COMICS
Even though I own the company, and participated in most of our buying decisions, I have to
tell you that even I was blown away at the diversity of titles that comprise the Phantom
Group listing. With them being released a few at a time over a period of many years, I
simply had no idea that we had helped to create so many cool limited edition Phantom
Group variants!
My final items for you today are five more scarce items from my personal purchases of the
estate of Middle Earth Publishing founders, Steve Allen and Dennis Wakabyashi.
1) 1976 Barry Smith Bookmarks Sheet
Originally intended to be cut apart, these bookmarks formed a single beautiful image, so Barry's
manager of the time, Ben Bieber, decided to sell a few as uncut sheets. Steve had a dozen of
these in his estate, which I am offering today at $24.95 each
2) CLEOPATRA Limited Edition Print by Frank Brunner
1976, limited to 1,000, only two copies available. $49.95
3) SCENCES FROM THE MAGIC PLANET by Richard Corben
Oversize portfolio from 1979 With full color plates! Only one copy available, and it has a light fold line in the front color image. $199.95
4) 1988 WATCHMEN Portfolio from DC Comics
Mint, and still in it's original shrink wrap - Scarce! $199.95
5) JOHN POUND: BEYOND HEAVEN & HELL PORTFOLIO S&N
1978, limited to 1,000. $99.95
I will close with a quick reminder that our hugely popular 30% Off STARWARS! codeword
sale is still in effect for you on all ten million of our back issue comics and magazines.
Only new issues, a few variants, and our CGC comics are excluded from this sale. All of
our trade paperbacks and hardback comics collections are on sale for you, too (at 30%-60%
off), with our book prices being slashed for you right on our website. Enjoy!
Happy Collecting!
