Special 4-Day Only SHELVING Codeword Sale

Howdy!

I was just offered an incredible opportunity, as a commercial shelf-supported mezzanine shelving unit just came available for sale that is identical to the one that we have in our Boulder facility. It has 39 connected shelving units that are each 18 feet tall, with a catwalk second floor to allow access to the upper shelves. The entire array will hold approximately two million (!) comics in long boxes, which is just about exactly how many unsorted comics that we have stored on pallets right now in the back of our Jason St. Mega-Store.

Shelf-Supported Mezzanine Shelving

While installing this immense shelving unit in the back of Jason St. would help us a great deal in reaching our goal of making more of our unsorted comics available to you, the timing of this opportunity is not good. First, this is our slower season of the year, so even though they are offering us this array at less than half of its original cost, this an expenditure that I should not be making right now. Second, they want us to disassemble the entire array in just two days. That would require us hiring temporary labor, as we do not have any uncommitted manpower available right now. Finally, this array is located 100 miles from Jason St., so we would also have to rent a truck to haul it back to Denver. Not an impossible task, but definitely a hassle.

All of the above having been said, I have decided that the potential long term benefits of owning this shelving system are so important that I am still going to try and pull this off. I am going to try and solve the cost problem by offering a very brief half price SHELVING codeword sale on all of our back issue comics on our website. Only new comics, a few variants, and our CGC-graded comics are excluded. This 50% off SHELVING codeword sale will run through Monday, only, and will not be offered to anyone except readers of this newsletter. If even a few dozen extra orders are placed over the weekend, we should earn enough to buy the shelving.

As regards the labor and trucking costs, I'm already hosting a special no-minimum-bid comics and toy auction at 11:30 AM at our Jason St. Mega-Store on this upcoming Saturday morning. While photos of our 300+ items for the auction are already posted to our Mile High Comics Facebook page, I'm going to personally put together a grouping of 100 more comics, toys, and books to sell without reserve on Saturday morning. If you live in the Denver area, I will guarantee you that it will definitely be worth your while to attend this special auction...

Moving on to other news, our offer of complete sets of free DEATH OF WOLVERINE #1-#4 as an incentive for placing a minimum $125 order has hit a minor snag, as Marvel announced a temporary delay in the publication of issues #3 and #4. It seems that they have been receiving immense numbers of last-minute reorders for those two issues, and are scrambling to print enough of the specially-enhanced covers. Their new publication dates are two weeks further out than originally planned, so we cannot ship orders containing free sets until the second Wednesday in October. Our offer to you of free sets remains in effect, but we do have to ask for your understanding while we wait for Marvel to deliver issues #3 and #4..

Death of Wolverine #4

On a closely-related topic, we have no more copies of the DEATH OF WOLVERINE #1 Deadpool, Canadian, or Young Baby variants left to give away. We do still have a few copies for sale on our website, but prices are now subject to change on a daily basis. As I predicted, DEATH OF WOLVERINE is completely blowing up in the secondary market...

Marvel 75th Ann Mag #1 Land

I will close today's newsletter by passing on a really great free item that Marvel unexpectedly shipped to us yesterday. This year is Marvel's 75th anniversary, so they created a very cool MARVEL 75TH ANNIVERSARY MAGAZINE (2014) #1 LAND VARIANT magazine to celebrate that event. These types of publications are oftentimes just sort of fluff, but my first impression of this highly collectible 75th Anniversary magazine is that it could easily have been sold on the newsstand. Check out the table of contents, and at think that you will readily agree. In any event, we received 100 copies from Marvel at no charge, so we will give them away to the first 100 fans who place any order with us, with no minimum. Just request your free MARVEL 75TH ANNIVERSARY MAGAZINE (2014) #1 LAND in the "notes" section of our online order form.

Happy Collecting!
