Free 1966 BATMAN Special Edition Magazine

Howdy!

My efforts at clearing out the far corners of our legendary 56th Ave. warehouse bore more fruit on Tuesday, as I discovered a long-lost stash of the ultra-scarce 1966 SUPER HEROES #1 magazine published by Warren. This classic magazine featured one of the very first photo arrays from the original BATMAN TV show, as well as rare photos from the original CAPT. AMERICA, SUPERMAN, FLASH GORDON, PHANTOM, and CAPT. MARVEL serials. This very cool magazine is so scarce that we have had only one copy available on our website during the past five years, and that one copy sold in a heartbeat.

In case you are wondering, I discovered these copies of SUPER HEROES #1 in a mismarked box, on a second level of our pallet racking. The box was supposed to contain copies of an issue of MONSTER WORLD, which is another very early Warren publication. We have plenty of copies of already available of that one issue, so no one had looked in the box since we moved into 56th Ave. building, way back in 1986. As it turned out, however, only the front ten and back ten magazines were actually the title that was marked on the box. The rest were all copies of SUPER HEROES #1!

All of the above having been said, I now have not only enough copies to last us for a couple of years, but also some extras. That being the case, I am going to offer you a chance to pick up a free copy of SUPER HEROES #1 for your collection. These are not going to be inexpensive, however, as they are typically quite rare. Here is the minimum order requirement for each grade:

Place any minimum $75 order with us for a free VG copy of SUPER HEROES #1
Place any minimum $100 order with us for a free Fine copy of SUPER HEROES #1
Place any minimum $125 order with us for a free Very Fine copy of SUPER HEROES #1
Place any minimum $200 order with us for a free VF/NM copy of SUPER HEROES #1

Please specify in the "notes" section of our online order form as to which grade you are requesting.

In other news, we just received information that Marvel Comics will be releasing 24 (!) new #1 titles during October. While we welcome the return of Marvel's missing line-up of titles after the conclusion of SECRET WARS, we are already scratching our heads over which issues to order the heaviest. I have a strong suspicion that we are not alone in facing this quandary, as most of our fellow comics retailers are facing an equally daunting task. Our response to this overwhelming number of new releases will be to order all of them in very conservative numbers. As a direct result, we do expect to completely sell out on those issues which turn out to be hits.

If you would like to guarantee that you receive copies of these new Marvel titles, please call Greg or Mario in our new comics subscription division. They can walk you through starting up a subscription account with us which will guarantee you NM copies, delivered right to your door. Greg and Mario can be reached by phone at 303-455-2659 (weekdays 9-5), or you can write to them at nice@milehighcomics.com

I will close today's newsletter with a quick reminder that our 30% off AWESOME! codeword is still in effect for you on all ten million of our back issue comics and magazines. Only new comics, a few variants, books, and our CGC-graded comics are exempt from the codeword discount. Please do remember, however, to take our codeword discounts into effect when calculating whether you have met our minimum order requirement for a free issue. All minimums must be met based upon the net amount of your order, after all discounts have been applied.

Happy Collecting!

P.S. I have been seeing a remarkable number of orders lately that come close to, but do not actually meet, our free shipping minimums of $40 on Domestic orders, and $100 on International orders. Why pay shipping when just a slightly larger order could exempt you from most shipping costs? Books do still incur small charges due to their extra weight, but most comics orders that meet our minimums ship entirely for free...
