Marvel Young Baby Variants
+ 8,000,000 Comics On Sale

Howdy!

After two days of non-stop heavy lifting, I finally completed my self-assigned task of sorting through two entire pallets of comics that I purchased on my last East Coast buying trip. I have to say that my efforts left me extremely pleased, as the contents of the 100 long boxes that I perused turned out to be just excellent. Not only did I find a very gratifying number of key issues, but the overall quality of the 30,000 back issues in those boxes was far better than what I usually find in my bulk deals.

What this means for you is that our two inventory managers, Will Moulton and Pam Brandle, will be adding thousands of really nice comics for you into our New-In-Stock and Premium New-In-Stock links. These new additions will range from the mid-1940's, all the way up to comics published within the last 90 days. Here are just a few Titles of the 1,000+ comics that they have already added this week:

ACTION COMICS (1938)
ADVENTURE TIME (2011)
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN (1999)
BATMAN & ROBIN (2011)
BRAVE AND THE BOLD (1955)
BRAVEST WARRIOR (2012)
DETECTIVE COMICS (2011)
MY LITTLE PONY: FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC (2012)
REGULAR SHOW (2013)
SONIC UNIVERSE (2009)
SPIDER-MAN (1963)
SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN (2013)
WONDER WOMAN (1942)

In other news, I worked late into the evening to get all of the comics stored on those two pallets sorted because I am taking a trip to New Mexico on Friday with my wife, Nanette. We will begin by attending the Cowboys and Indians antiques show at the Albuquerque fairgrounds on Friday, and then spent a restful week together tucked away at our favorite scenic little motel in Santa Fe. This is our first trip together to the southwest in four years, and we are both looking very much forward to renewing our friendships with all the nice people we know from the Pueblos, and also with the great folks of the Santa Fe arts community.

On a related topic, one question that I am frequently asked is whether I am still collecting Indian pottery. For those of you who have joined us recently this may seem an odd question, but in years gone by I wrote many newsletters that focused on my passion for the very unique handmade ceramics created at the 18 Pueblos of New Mexico and Arizona. That passion still burns very powerfully within me, and I do still own my 8,000+ pieces, but the onset of the Great Recession five years ago forced me to curtail both my pottery collecting, and also my organic farming activities. Instead, I went out on a seemingly endless series of comics buying trips (some as long as five weeks in duration...) to help to sustain the viability of Mile High Comics during that period of economic duress.

Extremely Rare 1940's Avanyu Plate by Van Gutierrez

Complicating matters for my personal endeavors even further, was our acquisition of our Jason St. building, and our subsequent decision to build the world's largest comics retail store within its cavernous interior. While that real estate purchase turned out to be one of the very best decisions that I have ever made, the runaway success of the Mega-Store has continually absorbed every cent of working capital that we could muster. In point of fact, it still does. At some point, however, you have to just refuse to let circumstances control you any further. I've promised Nanette this trip for each of the past three years, and each time I've had to cancel. This time, we're going, no matter what else occurs. Life is far too short to never take the time to savor your blessings.

Superior Spider-Man #32

Speaking of blessings, we managed to obtain a small allotment of the newest Young Baby cover, by the very popular Skottie Young. SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #32 was just released today, and a Young Baby variant shipped at the same time. SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #32 was originally never going to exist, as the series ended with issue #31, and then morphed into the new AMAZING SPIDER-MAN. Marvel has now resurrected the SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN title, however, to be the starting point of their new "Edge of the Spider-verse" storyline, which is supposed to feature a crossover plot of all of the past Spider-Man incarnations. I have no idea if this new Spider-Man story will be successful, but I can assure you that the entire Young Baby variant series has been extremely popular for us, with our already having sold (and given away...) many thousands of copies.

Superior Spider-Man #32 Young Baby

Whatever the case may be, Will managed to get us 30 extra copies of the SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #32 Young Baby variant, and we will give them away as a bonus item to the first 30 orders that we receive that are for $50, or more. Just request your free SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #32 Young Baby variant in the "notes" section of our online order form. Our supplies are (obviously...) quite limited.

Two quick notes to conclude is newsletter. First, our 40% off GREATDEAL codeword sale is still in effect for you on all of our back issue comics and magazines. New comics, books, a few variants, and our CGC-graded comics are the only exclusions from the 40% off sale. All of the other back issue comics and mags listed on our website are yours at a 40% discount right now when you utilize the GREATDEAL codeword. Second, we loaded up on Skottie Young's variant editions last year, and have had them on sale for you ever since. We are starting to run very low on several, however, so the days of being able to purchase them at your leisure is drawing to a close. I have asked Lynne to add a listing of all the currently available Young Baby editions for you at the end of this newsletter. If you are trying to put together a full set of these enchanting covers before they are all gone, I urge you to order those that you need right away.

Happy Collecting!
