Ten Million Comics On Sale
30% Off Codeword

Howdy!

One question that has often been asked of me recently is how we can afford to offer so many thousands of comics on our website for under $2? The answer lies in our having spent 4 decades creating, and stashing away, packs of ten copies each of practically every comic book ever printed. After 46 years of effort, we have nearly four million comics in ten-packs stored on shelving in our main warehouse, and another 2 million comics on tightly-packed shelving in our overflow warehouse. In a nutshell, those issues are the comics that we can now afford to offer to you for $2 each, or less.

10-Pack Shelves

What makes the future very bright is that we have yet another two million unsorted comics awaiting processing in the back of our Jason St. Mega-Store, 200,000 more in the back of our main warehouse, and yet another 100,000 unsorted issues in our overflow warehouse. As our numerous pallets of these issues are sorted over the next twelve months, even more of the comics we list for you will drop below that magic $2 threshold on our website. I'm uncertain if we can keep our prices on all of those comics that low for you indefinitely (especially when we have a 30% off codeword also in effect...), but we will try.

Chuck with 1 Barn Pallet

To give you an idea of the quantity of mass that is involved in the sorting endeavor that we are currently undertaking, I had Chris take of photo of me with just one pallet loaded with comics that I just brought in from our overflow warehouse. These are comics that I stashed away in 2002, and have not looked at since. My mini-van can hold 12 long boxes without straining, so this one huge pallet took me four days to deliver. I can't wait to start sorting!

Secret Wars #8

In case you are wondering why I am so eager to dive into these boxes, there are many thousands of great comics hidden on this pallet. This fact was clearly illustrated by my discovery on Sunday morning of an entire stack of pristine copies of SECRET WARS (1984) #8 appeared in just one box. That key issue from 1984 is the first appearance of Spider-Man's black costume/Venom, and is typically completely sold out on our website. The list of great issues in these boxes is near endless, however, as this morning I located another full box containing nothing but issues of CAPTAIN AMERICA (1968) ranging from #145-#300. Those issues were once way overabundant, but since the Marvel movies have hit, they have become quite desirable. Suffice it to say, unearthing all of these long-forgotten boxes filled with old comics is really fun...

Captain America #145

In other news, we just received the cover to our Mile High Comics exclusive variant edition of SECRET WARS (2015) #6. With Spider-Man prominently featured, I am certain that this will be one of our best-selling variant editions, ever. If you do not yet have this issue ordered from us, you can reserve your copy by calling Greg or Mario in our new comics subscription department at 303-455-2659 (weekdays 9-5). You can also reserve a copy by writing to them at nice@milehighcomics.com. Each issue is $19.95 when pre-ordered, or $24.95 after release. Our issue #5 will be released next Wednesday, so this weekend is your last chance to pre-order our variant of SECRET WARS (2015) #5. Below are our exclusive covers to #5 and #6, along with a combination photo of how all of our covers form a single huge battle scene.

Secret Wars #1-#6 Mile High Variants

As an aside, I want to repeat for those of you who are new to Mile High Comics that we never, ever, wholesale our Mile High Comics variant editions, nor do we ever discount them, or reduce our prices. We view each and every variant edition that we publish as a secure long term investment for both of us, which is precisely why we limit individual purchases of our variants to a maximum of three copies per client.

Star Wars #1-#6 Mile High Variants

What that means for you is that our Mile High Comics variants should easily retain their value in the secondary market in the short term, and should actually grow in market value for you rather steadily as time passes. To some extent we insure that growth in value, as we raise our asking prices for each of our variants as our remaining supplies on hand dwindle. Take one look at our current asking prices for our STAR WARS variants (which have been selling like hotcakes...), and I think that you will see how our price maintenance program works in practice.

Star Wars #7 and #8 Mile High Variants

I will close today's newsletter with a quick reminder that I have extended our new 30% off AWESOME! codeword sale for you until at least early next week. When you type AWESOME! into the "Discount" line on our website order form, our computer will automatically apply a whopping 30% discount for you to all qualifying items in your order. The codeword sale does not apply to books, new comics, CGC issues, and a few variants, but it does apply to all ten million of our standard back issue comics and magazines, including that nice Marvel Silver Age collection that we added on Monday.

Happy Collecting!
