Half Price Back Issues plus Superhero Videos

Howdy!

After a week of frenetic activity based upon last weekend's Denver Comic-Con, I am finally starting to recover. Not only am I feeling better after some much-needed sleep, but I am back this morning at my favorite table in the dining room at the Boulder Whole Foods Market. That may not seem all that important, but after weeks of writing newsletters on the fly, I have to tell you that I am relieved that I am once again able to write to you from a calm and restful environment. Life is good!

As regards operating news from Mile High Comics, I will be hosting a staff meeting in a couple of hours, during which we will try to establish a game plan for the rest of the summer. Our most pressing priority right now is restocking and enhancing our traveling comics shop for San Diego Comic-Con. Our semi-trailer has to leave for the convention in just four weeks, so we are really under the gun to get this job done right away. That having been said, we already had half a dozen staff members working for the past two months on sorting and grading back issues for the Denver convention. While our sales were excellent at that show, we still brought home about 90% of the 100,000 comics contained in our convention stock. Those remaining 90,000 back issue comics from the Denver show will now form the core of our San Diego exhibit, with only nominal restocking needed. In all honesty, we have never been so ready for San Diego so early in the year...

All of the above having been said, most of our inventory efforts over the next couple of months will be focused on increasing our stock of comics that we offer to you online. We had to set aside much of our sorting and grading of comics when our computer system went down for 11 days in early May, and since then our inventory crew has been incorporated into our fulfillment team in order to help them to completely eliminate our shipping backlog. That task was successfully accomplished last week, so we are now entirely back in the groove, with most orders that we are receiving from our website now back to being shipped within 48 hours. That being the case, I now finally have the freedom to restore our inventory division, and to help them get back again to rolling in high gear.

On a directly related topic, Pam and I kept right on purchasing great collections of older comics during the past six weeks, even while our inventory crew was diverted to helping fill orders. As a result, Pam has more than 15,000 choice back issues waiting to be graded, while I have a very nice private collection of 30,000 comics and books that has not even been unwrapped. The meeting today is going to be all about how to maximize our efficiencies, so that we can offer those 45,000 comics to you as quickly possible via Pam's New-In-Stock and Premium New-In-Stock, links. I highly recommend that you keep an eye on our New-In-Stock links over the next few days, as there are some excellent Silver Age Marvel and DC comics that we will be listing for you.

Another important consideration is that I want you to know that I intend to keep our 50% off SWEETHEART codeword in effect for you for at least for another week. All other considerations aside, if you had an order that was delayed in shipping during our difficulties, we especially want to thank you for your patience and understanding. With our website prices already slashed, the additional benefit of that 50% off codeword really makes a difference for you.

PS. Here are several YouTube videos that we created at last Thursday's incredibly successful Denver Comic-Con Party at our Jason St. Mega-Store. The first video is a very quick overview of the party, while the rest feature individual Cosplay performances by members of the Imperial Court of the Rocky Mountain Empire. All of us who perform with the ICRME are responsible for our selecting our own songs to lip synch, and then creating compatible costumes and choreography. I think that you will very much enjoy the diversity of our individual acts!
