Poker Game Saturday, New Books, Toys,
and Statues Arrive

Howdy!

I am very excited today! Our first-ever Mile High Comics Texas Hold 'em poker tournament will be held this Saturday morning at our Jason St. Mega-Store, and it looks to be jam-packed! We have over 40 players already confirmed, with more than 20 others who have indicated that they will register before the game begins on Saturday morning. With that many people participating, this should be a great poker tournament!

Poker Tournament

If you have not yet registered, and would like to play in our tournament, it is not too late. Just stop by any of our Mile High Comics locations today or tomorrow, and drop off your $25 buy-in fee. Your fee will go to a very good cause, as our game is a charitable event which will benefit the annual July 4th Imperial Court of the Rocky Mountain Empire picnic in Cheeseman Park. Aside from having a potluck for ICRME members, we also feed the homeless living in the park that day.

The top prize in our tournament is a $1,000 gift certificate donated by Mile High Comics, along with several smaller prizes. There will also be a registration at Jason St. beginning at 10 AM Saturday morning (play will begin at 11 AM), but this will be on a first-come basis. We only have eight dealers, so will have no choice to cut off registrations once we get to eighty players. This a single elimination game, with no addition buy-ins. Our game should move along very quickly, as we will be raising the blinds every 15 minutes. I also just ordered some dandy trophies for the top three places, so you really do want to win this tournament!

My only other bits of Mile High Comics news for this weekend involve new shipments. First, all three of our stores have been ordering a slew of extra comics trade paperbacks and hardbacks for the summer sales season, with huge shipments arriving each week.

Second, our Jason St. Mega-Store is being totally restocked with toys right now from our former Littleton location. As we are unpacking the boxes of toy and statues, our specialists are amazed at what Lynn had stashed in his back room. It has been years since we have seen so many scarce and out of production items. Most are one-of-a-kind, however, so if you collect toys or statues, do try to stop by Jason St. this weekend.

Finally, since we are in the middle of restocking our rolling bins after a very successful Denver Comic-Con, we have the entire array of 100,000 back issue comics that comprise our San Diego booth out for your shopping enjoyment right now. The bins are located in the new comics area of Jason St. Because we gave the convention booth priority during a recent sorting effort, there are thousands of cool back issue titles in those bins that are not yet represented in our huge "Ocean of Comics." they will all need to go away, however, in 17 day, so do please try to visit Jason St. soon as you can.

Happy Collecting!
