SPIDER-MEN #1 - Mile High Comics Variant

Howdy!

I am back in Colorado today, helping our team that is expanding and enhancing our Jason St. Mega-Store for next Thursday's Opening Night party for the Denver Comic-Con. The place is a complete mess right now, with electricians running high reach lifts around, as they install 24 more banks of high intensity fluorescent lights in the ceiling over the 35,000 square foot retail area. We also have 15 additional people either grading comics for in the back issue bins, building wall display panels, or adapting and installing new retail fixtures. It really does remind me of Santa's workshop at times...

The big news from the Denver Comic-Con is that comics legend, Neal Adams, decided at the very last minute to join the guest list. This came about in part because I had a conversation with Neal's wife at last weekend's WizardWorld Philadelphia convention, during which I helped to answer some concerns they had about attending. What really matters now, however, is that memberships for the June 15th - 17th Denver convention are almost completely sold out. I was informed last evening that one day tickets are still available, but if you wish to purchase them, you simply cannot procrastinate. 'Nuff said.

Moving on to news from our online division, we have three great giveaways to offer to you today. All three are "Larry's Variants," which means that they were commissioned by our good friend, Larry Dougherty, of the world-famous Larry's Comics in Lowell, Massachusetts. Larry was kind enough to share a few copies of his special variant editions with us when Ashley and I visit his shop, with the understanding that we would be offering them to you as a special free bonus for placing an order via our website. The first three Larry's variants that we have to offer you are as follows:

FAME: JUSTIN BIEBER (2010) #1 LARRYS VARIANT
GAME OF THRONES (2011) #6 BLANK CVR (MATURE)
WARLORD OF MARS: DEJAH THORIS (2011) #1 LARRYS VARIANT (MATURE)

You can chose any one of the Larry's variants for free if you place a minimum $40 order with us, or all three if you place a minimum $100 order. Please do remember, however, that the minimums have to be met after the benefits of our current 50% off COMICSPARTY! codeword are first deducted. Also, bear in mind that the COMICSPARTY! discount does slash all of our back issue comics and magazines prices in half for you, but it does not apply to books, non-comics items, new comics (from the past twelve months), and/or our CGC-graded issues.

In other news, I can offer you today a very short term opportunity to purchase a copy of our latest Mile High Comics Variant, SPIDER-MEN #1 for $20 a copy. So you know, we cannot give this variant away (as we had originally intended...) because the "new-and-improved" online ordering system of our distributor malfunctioned, and we did not catch their screw-up in time to reinstate our original 2,000-copy order. Instead, we received only 500 copies, which is how many we had originally planned to sell at our booth at this year's San Diego Comic-Con. I am frustrated beyond words by this situation, but it is just one of things that happens. I do want you to know, however, that an edition of 500 copies is totally inadequate for our worldwide demand, so if you want a copy of our SPIDER-MEN #1 varaint, you will need to get your order in to us right away. I suspect that we will be completely out of stock of this rare variant by the end of next Thursday night's party...

Happy Collecting!

P.S. I was interviewed by the Denver Post a couple of weeks ago, and the article ran in the paper yesterday. If you would like to read it online, go to our Mile High Comics Facebook page. I will tell you upfront, however, that the idea of my stripping to the waist for the photos, was definitely not my idea. The reporter decided that having me pose my body art in front of our comics wall in Jason St. would somehow enhance the article. I disagreed, but rather than argue, I took one for the team. Whatever...
