Free AVENGERS VS. X-MEN Comics

Howdy!

I want to start off today by mentioning that our 50% Off COMICSPARTY! discount codeword is still in effect for you on all of our back issue comics and magazines. Our discount codeword does not apply to books (which are already discounted by 30% off right on our website), new comics published during the past year, CGC-Graded comics, and the non-comics items listed on our website. All eight million of of our back issues comics and magazines that we offer are available to you right now at half the prices listed (!) on our website when you type COMICSPARTY! into the discount code line on our online order form. Enjoy!

In case you missed my previous announcements, we chose COMICSPARTY! as our new discount codeword because we will be hosting the the opening night party for next week's first-ever Denver Comic-Con at our Jason St. Mega-Store. The party will be held from 5 PM - 11PM, and will feature a vastly expanded 35,000 square foot version of our Mega-Store. We will have an incredible comics auction that evening (see the listing here), live wrestling demonstrations by New Era Pro Wrestling, early badge pack-up for the Comic-Con, and several professional comics creators as guests. We are expecting between 1,000 - 2,000 fans to come to 4600 Jason St. that evening, so it will be an incredible party! Please do bear in mind, however, that we have limited parking available. If you arrive later in the evening, there is ample street parking near our warehouse/Mega-Store, but you may have to park a couple of blocks away...

My only other news note for today is that we just received our copies of AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #5 as with our earlier issues, we are offering you any one of the three main covers entirely for free, simply for placing any order with us for $20, or more. Just place your order with us as per usual, and then ask for your free AVENGERS VS. X-MEN issue in the "notes" section of our online order form. Place any minimum $50 order with us, and you can ask for all three covers...

Moving on to an entirely different subject, I am now going to provide you with a view of my life as a comics dealer. In the following seven photos you will see Ashley and I in all the phases of buying the incredible deal containing 38,000 high grade comics that will form the nucleus of our Jason St. back issue inventory. As you will see, our job is more about moving large amounts of weight than many people realize...

#1 Starting off from Newark, NJ with an empty cargo van and lots of energy and optimism.

#2 A view of 38,000 back issues (all bagged and boarded) in 390 short boxes. They were stored in a basement, with the only access being a spiraling staircase of 15 steps. It ultimately took me 195 trips up those stairs, carrying two boxes (50 lbs) at a time.

#3 Ashley and I loaded 80 of the boxes into our cargo van last Thursday morning for display in our booth at last weekend's WIZARDWORLD Philadelphia. We then filled the van to the ceiling on Sunday evening with our purchases at the convention.

#4 Ashley is small is stature, but is incredibly strong and resilient. She carried most of those 390 boxes from the seller's living room, down 13 steps to our trucks, and then stacked them inside our trucks. She is just amazing...

#5 After unloading the first cargo van load at the FedEx freight terminal in Baltimore, we rented a U-Haul box truck. We then drove back to the seller's house, and filled both. Ashley drove the cargo van back FedEx, while I drove the U-Haul.

#6 The seller's basement looked a lot different once it was mostly empty...

#7 After starting our day at 9 AM on Monday, we finished unloading at 9:30 that evening. We loaded, and unloaded, a total of six tons (12,000 lbs) of comics and magazines in that one day. I was just about ready to collapse by the time we were finished. At the age of 57, this job isn't getting any easier...

I hope this little photo essay gave you a little bit better insight into what Ashley and I do when we are on the road buying comics. We do also have great fun sometimes, but our #1 goal is finding, and shipping wonderful comics back to our Denver headquarters that will provide you with greater options when you browse our website. We thank you sincerely for letting us serve you.

Happy Collecting!
