Scarce WALKING DEAD #168 Gay Pride Variant Edition Releases Next Week

Howdy!

I am back in Denver (briefly) after a holiday weekend visit to attend the coronation of the new Salt Lake City Imperial Court Monarchs. I flew home from that 3-day event just yesterday, but I will already need to depart again on Thursday morning in order to drive to Albuquerque. I will be attending the coronation this weekend for the new Monarchs of the United Court of the Sandias. The next weekend (June 10th) I will be in Washington, D.C. in order to attend their Pride, and also to march in the National Equality Parade (June 11th). The weekend after that (June 17th) I fly to coronation in Reno, NV. Whew!

Pepper Prespentt and Chuck

All of this travel is part and parcel of my role as an "Heir Apparent" to Nicole the Great, Queen Mother I of the Americas. Nicole is the titular head of the International Court System, the 30,000-member LGBTQ organization of which I am a member. She appointed me to the remarkably prestigious role of "Heir Apparent" last April, in a very moving ceremony at our founder, Jose Sarria's, grave in San Francisco.

As an Heir, it became my responsibility to try to attend as many annual coronations as I can among our 70 individual Courts in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Of greatest importance for me to attend, however, are the coronations held in my Rocky Mountain region, which is precisely why I have to be out of the office during these two weekends. In all honesty, however, I truly appreciate the break from my seemingly endless search for water-damaged merchandise in Jason St. To my great frustration, I still keep finding entirely new little groupings of damp comics and books in odd corners of our huge building. Nothing significant, but annoying, nonetheless.

WALKING DEAD #168 PRIDE COVER

DIVIDED STATES OF HYSTERIA #1 PRIDE COVER

By this point, I am pretty certain that some readers are wondering what all my LGBTQ information has to do with comic books. Well, aside from the fact that a great many of the members of our various Imperial Courts are avid comics fans, Image Comics just announced their first-ever Gay Pride-themed variant editions, starting with exclusive Pride covers to WALKING DEAD #168 and DIVIDED STATES OF HYSTERIA #1. These Pride variants were NOT solicited in Diamond Previews! Image offered these exclusive Pride variants only via Diamond's weekly online newsletter (which fans are not allowed to see...), and which many comics dealers choose to ignore. As a result, we think it reasonable to anticipate that distribution of these Pride variants will be spotty, at best. Here are all of the Image Pride variants, and their release dates:

DIVIDED STATES OF HYSTERIA #1 CVR B PRIDE MONTH VAR (Release Date 06/07/17)
WALKING DEAD #168 CVR B PRIDE MONTH VAR (Release Date 06/07/17))

If you wish, you can order WALKING DEAD #168 and DIVIDED STATES OF HYSTERIA #1 from us today. We will then ship them to you when they release next Wednesday. Please note that there is a limit of five copies each per client on WALKING DEAD #168, and only two copies each per client on DIVIDED STATES OF HYSTERIA #11. Those limits are quite necessary because we are also setting aside 100 copies of each in order to be able to offer full sets at $49.95 each. Those 100 Pride variant sets cannot ship until July, however, when all of the Pride variants have finally released.

Harvey Milk sketch by Thomas Haller Buchanan

On a side note, 100% of the funds received from those 100 Pride variant sets will be used to help fund the creation of the artwork for our upcoming graphic novel based upon the life of LGBTQ martyr, Harvey Milk. Thomas Haller Buchanan has already begun his preliminary design work on this epic project, with me providing the initial seed money out of my own pocket. This will be an expensive project to fund, but I think it important not only for members of the LGBTQ Community, but also for anyone interested in the history of civil rights in America.

Some of the SIMPSON'S comics that will be in tomorrow's New-In-Stock

I will close today's newsletter with a quick mention that our 40% off SUMMER! Codeword sale is still in effect for you throughout this week on all of our ten million back issue comics and magazines. Only new issues, a few variants, and our professionally graded comics are excluded for the 40% off SUMMER! codeword. Please do enjoy these very generous savings with our sincere thanks for your continuing support of our efforts on your behalf here at Mile High Comics.

Happy collecting!
