Updated Denver Comic-Con Party News

Howdy!

This has been a very interesting day. It began with my picking up eight banquet tables for our June 12th Denver Comic-Con opening night party. On the way to deliver the tables at our Jason St. Mega-Store, I heard about a hoax circulating on the Internet about our good friend, actor Lou Ferrigno, having been killed in an auto accident in California. I can attest that news report was a ridiculous fabrication, as I spoke with Lou a couple of hours later, and he was doing just fine. In point of fact, Lou told me that he is planning to be the first guest to arrive at our Denver Comic-Con party, some time well ahead of our official 5 PM opening time. If you can get free on the afternoon of June 12th, it might be well worth your time to stop by our Mega-Store to chat with our early-arriving guests.

After delivering the banquet tables, I spent the entire rest of my day preparing for that incredible June 12th opening night party for the Denver Comic-Con. As I have mentioned in my previous newsletters on the subject, this year's Denver Comic-Con party is the single most daunting event that we have ever hosted. With a Cosplay performance show that will last for over three hours, two different groups of sword fighters giving demonstrations, a Cosplay costume contest with over $1,000 in prizes, and more than a dozen of comics and media guests from the convention already agreeing to appear and sign autographs, I will guarantee you that this party is going to be a remarkably cool event that will be talked about for many years.

Here is an updated list of guests who have already committed to appear at our party:

Greg Horn
Josh Adams
Monte Moore

and more to be announced soon!

At this point I need to ask all local comics creators who wish to have free signing space at our party to immediately get in contact with David Saindon, our Lakewood store manager. David is in charge of allocating what is left of our limited table space for creators. He can be reached at 303-238-8125. You need to know that this is a golden opportunity for any comics creator to gain massive exposure, as we are expecting about 3,000 comics fans to attend our party that night. A table space is yours simply for the asking right now, and you get to keep 100% of the money you generate during the party. Need I say more?

On a related topic, we received a bit of very good news about the parking situation, as a school two blocks up the street from the Mega-Store has given us permission to park about 100 cars in their lot! We are still asking people planning to attend our party to please try to use mass transit or carpool, but having an extra 100 parking spaces available will certainly help .

In other news, our benefit Cosplay performance show is shaping up to be one of the coolest events, ever. Thus far we have over 20 performers from the Imperial Court of the Rocky Mountain Empire participating, with my opening the show performing as SUPERMAN, Emperor 41 Caeri Mancini performing as WOLVERINE, and Princess Royale 41 Anabella Lafontaine performing as TANK GIRL, Grand Duchess 40 Norrie Reynolds as SUPERGIRL, and Court Jester 41 Simon Rump performing as THE JOKER, just to name a few. Empress 41, Melissa Nawrocki (who will give an individual performance as ALICE IN WONDERLAND) has also organized a special fantasy performance of "Cell Block Tango" from the musical CHICAGO. This one amazing act features over a dozen dancers, and I will guarantee that it will knock your socks off! Suffice it to say, our Cosplay performance show is intended to be great fun for the entire family to enjoy...

While the incredibly talented performers from the Imperial Court are always very generous with contributing their time, the main purpose of our June 12th Cosplay show will be to solicit donations to help pay for a new medical facility being built at the Denver Children's Advocacy Center. This grouping of three buildings on Federal Blvd. Acts as a safehouse for kids that have suffered from sexual abuse. If you are coming to our party, please try to bring at least a few dollars to contribute to this very worthy cause.

Aside from giving actual cash donations during the Cosplay show, another way that you can contribute to our Children's Center benefit is to bring in a donation of baked goods for our benefit bake sale. Prince Royale 40 Richard Brendlinger has generously agreed to coordinate the bake sale, and is very much in need of donations. If you think you might be able to bring a donation for the bake sale, please contact Richard at princeroyal40@gmail.com. Everyone who donates a baked item will have a special identifying tag with their name placed with their donation, for all to see. Your help would be most sincerely appreciated.

Happy Collecting!

P.S. I almost forgot to mention that this year's Denver Comic-Con tickets are almost sold out. We have been told that all three-day passes are now allocated, and that their remaining one-day tickets are selling extremely well. If you want to attend this year's show, and have not yet purchased your tickets, you need to do so right away. We do have some individual tickets still available at all of our Mile High Comics retail outlets, but we are running low.
