New AWESOME Codeword Sale On All Comics
Howdy!
During the late 1990's, I wrote a very popular weekly column for a magazine called Comics Buyer's Guide.
The first thing that I had to do after I was hired was to pick an appropriate name for my column, so I
chose
"Tales From the Database."
That unusual name derived from my constant work on building (and maintaining)
the massive pricing and data archive that underlies everything that we do at
Mile High Comics.
Simply put,
every time that you browse through our Mile High Comics
website
you see examples of my efforts. Several
other people (and most especially my assistant, Will Moulton) perform most of the entry work, but when all
is going right, a great deal of the data originates with me.
In case you're wondering, I mention my database efforts because today, for the first time in over a year,
I was able to sit down this morning and begin correcting aspects of our database. The most important thing
that I was addressing was updating a few prices (some of which had not been changed in ten years...), but
I was also correcting typos, and adding new data to titles where our listings were incomplete. I really
did not get much of anywhere in the overall scheme of things, as I only corrected 30 pages out of the
10,000+ pages that comprise our entire database, but I have to tell you that it felt really good to finally
be back doing the work that truly brings me joy.
Moving on to news about comics, I have to eat a little crow today and admit that I was incorrect about our
shipping backlog. I had thought that we were about to be completely caught up from the delays caused by our
epic warehouse move, but that turned out to be incorrect. When I dug deeper today, I discovered that we do
still have orders to ship that were received more than three weeks ago. Those days were right in the middle
of our move, and thus contain very few orders, but until we get them out the door we cannot yet concentrate
on orders received during the past ten days. I apologize for any inconvenience I may have caused through my
error. Suffice it to say, our entire fulfillment team is totally focused on quickly resolving this backlog.
On the more positive note, Pam and Will have been able to grade, and add into our
website
New-In-Stock
and
Premium New-In-Stock
links, over 2,000 scarce older comics this week. Almost all of these newly-added treasures originated from
collections that I purchased 2+ years ago, but which we have just never had the time to process. Now that
all of our operations have been merged into a single building, however, Will and Pam have complete access to
all of our unprocessed collections. As a case in point, our comics sorters at
Jason St.
have been setting aside
all pre-1985 comics from my buys. I took Pam to that storage area this morning, and we discovered a stash of
over 16,000!
Bronze Age
comics waiting to be graded. We cannot put a team on grading these awesome comics until
we get completely caught up with our order shipping, but I promise you that we will grade those 16,000 comics,
and add them to our
website
for you, just as soon as possible.
On a related note, our new 40% off AWESOME! codeword sale is now in effect for you. New comics, a few variants,
trade paperbacks, hardcovers,
and our CGC comics are excluded, but the rest of our ten million
back issue comics and magazines
are now available
to you at 40% off. This 40% discount includes almost all of the comics that Will and Pam added into our
New-In-Stock
and
Premium New-In-Stock
links for you this week. Please note, however, that we only have one copy each of most of the comics offered in
our
New-In-Stock
links. All orders for these scarce comics will be filled on the basis of which orders are received first.
I will close today's newsletter with a quick mention that we have another batch of 48 Marvel Essentials trade
paperbacks to offer you at the end of this newsletter. We have already sold down on our stock of several of the
Essentials that we offered in Monday's newsletter, so I encourage you to order quickly if you see some titles that
you would like to add to your library. All of these Essentials titles are now out-of-print, so being able to buy
them at only half of cover price is one heck of a good deal.
Happy collecting!

President - Mile High Comics, Inc.
