Half Price Comics Sale Returns Free ORIGINAL SIN
Howdy!
Today feels like the sunny aftermath of a devastating storm, where the chaos is still clearly evident, but seems
completely out of context with the present world. I have this unusual perspective right now because I am witness
to a beehive of activity at Mile High Comics, where all of the members of our extremely hardworking and dedicated
staff are totally focused on helping us to recover from the debilitating computer difficulties that crippled our
operations last week. Speaking from an inside perspective, I have to tell you that I am just amazed at how quickly
our teams are being able to return things to a state of normalcy. If I did not know better, it would appear right
now that nothing ever happened.
The rest of the news that I have to pass on to you on today is also very good. Our main computer is running flawlessly
right now, with a noticeable improvement in speed. By the end of tomorrow, our entire backlog of eBay orders will
have been shipped. That will then allow us to redirect most of our extra staff into shipping orders that were placed
directly through our website. I may be a little optimistic, but I think that we can resolve most of our website
order backlog by the end of next week. That timing is still not ideal, but considering that our main computer was
dead as a brick on Monday morning, it is a vast improvement.
While shipping orders is our #1 priority right now, Pam's inventory team was extremely productive while our computerized
fulfillment systems were down. They filed away a huge backlog of 30,000+ comics, and also graded over 5,000 rare
back issues that were previously out-of-stock on our website. Pam entered the first 3,000 of those comics into our
New-In-Stock and
Premium New-In-Stock links yesterday, with the balance set to be entered today. The same is true
of the new comics released during the past two weeks. All are now listed on the website, and available for immediate
purchase.
ORIGINAL SIN (2014) #1
Speaking of new comics, Marvel released ORIGINAL SIN
#1 last week, which is the start of a huge new crossover series.
That may not seem like such a big deal, but bear in mind that it is becoming clear to many in the comics world that
Marvel/Disney is seeking to create as many new and original characters as possible right now, primarily because their
movie rights would be completely unfettered. "Online rumors" are that many of those new characters will be introduced during the course of
ORIGINAL SIN. If any of them become hits (either in comics or in upcoming movies) their origin issues could become
as desirable in the back issue market as HULK #181
or SECRET WARS #8
. We have absolutely no way of predicting which
of these new characters (if any) will succeed, but we are hedging our bets by stashing away at least a few copies of
each.
That having been said, my free comics offer for today is a copy of ORIGINAL SIN #1
, which you can receive as a bonus
for placing any minimum $40 order with us. Just place your qualifying order, and then ask for your free copy in the
"notes" section of our online order form. We have 100 copies available.
I will close today's newsletter with two final items. First, please allow at least ten days for us to ship any order
that you place with us right now. We may be able to ship your order more quickly, but I'm trying to be completely
realistic about how quickly we can work down our backlog. Second, our 50% off SWEETHEART codeword sale remains in
effect for you on all of our back issue comics and magazines, excluding only new comics, a few variants, and our
CGC-graded comics. All of our trade paperbacks and comics hardback are also still on sale, with those discounted prices
posted for you right on our website.
Happy Collecting!

P.S. If you live anywhere near Denver, I would urge you to save June 12th on your calendar. That will be the night
that we host this year's incredible Denver Comic-Con Opening Night Party. The Comic-Con expanded to three days this
year, which means that far more of the guests will have arrived in town by that Thursday evening. Neal Adams, Lou
Ferrigno, and Tone Rodriguez have already committed to our party, but they are just the first of many. We had about
20 creators signing last year, and we are tripling our space.
Lou Ferrigno
I will also be putting on a huge charity stage show that evening for The Denver Children's Advocacy Center, featuring
the very talented performers of the Imperial Court of the Rocky Mountain Empire. More details about this very entertaining
all-ages Cosplay-themed drag and variety show will be announced very soon. Suffice it to say, however, that because
I am hosting this event, ICRME tradition requires that I give the opening and closing performances. You will definitely
not want to miss this event, as I promise you that it will be insanely entertaining!
(FYI, it is looking like Denver Comic-Con is going to blow away last year's 61,000 attendance figure. Despite the convention
increasing the number of tickets dramatically, three day passes are already sold out on their website... )
